TL;DR - Enhanced Targeting allows you to send hashed user data to Media Partners, to identify your users among theirs.

Following the sunsetting of thrid-party cookies, major Media Partners now allow you to send (e.g.: email, phone_number) along with their conversion data.

They can match your hash with the hash of their logged-in users, to train their algorithms and further improve targetization, based on the general behavior or users similar to those that converted.

Enhanced Targeting is a feature that automatically sends hashed user data to Media Partners that support it, to improve the performance of your campaigns. Without any configuration on your end.

You can use ads_user_data and ads_personalization parameters to grant or deny user consent to Enhanced Targeting
